From Alzheimer’s awareness and financial literacy to caregiver wellness and home safety, these sessions connect families with critical resources and create a safe space to learn and ask questions.
Aging in place
Preference: 88% of adults aged 50-80 say it is important to stay in their homes as long as possible.
Housing: 8 in 10 older adults currently live independently in their own homes.
Demand: By 2034, there will be more Americans over 65 than under 18.
Caregiver needs and support
Increased number:
The number of family caregivers grew by 32% between 2011 and 2022, from 18.2 million to 24.1 million.
Care hours:
The average hours spent per week by family caregivers increased significantly, especially for those caring for someone with dementia.
Burden:
About 40% of family caregivers report a high level of burden.
Unmet needs:
Many caregivers have concerns about their loved one's ability to live independently and the cost of future care.
Support:
Caregivers place a high priority on finding affordable and trustworthy contractors for home modifications and a greater need for support services for older adults living alone.
